We’ve all been terribly moved by the response to the recent loss of Dan Harris. His family and girlfriend also wished to express their deepest thanks for your kind comments and sympathy at this difficult time:
“We as a family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of support over our tragic and devastating loss of a wonderful son and boyfriend. This is for all the friends and strangers who have said some truly beautiful things about our boy.
Everyone who knew Dan loved him for his sense of humour, fun and adventure. He was an experienced cyclist and we want it to be known that he was wearing a helmet, he wasn’t just cycling because of the high profile it has received because of the Olympics, he was just going backwards and forward to work as he always did.
In the past he has cycled across Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and back. He was from a very young age a swimmer, kayaker and generally keen on all water sports. As a lifeguard in his teens he was always safety conscious, but was nevertheless always ready to take on a challenge.
Please respect our privacy at this time, we will not be talking directly to any press or media, everything will be dealt with through our police liaison officer. We would also like to personally thank him and the other police officers involved who have been so helpful and kind.”

What a tragedy, taken far too soon…I am sorry for your loss to both family & friends, I am sure this is a horrid time, I will keep him in my prayers and I know you guys will continue to honor him for his tireless efforts and fantastic spirit
