In the exciting world of advertising in the 1960s, Pino Tovaglia was one of Milan’s top graphic designers. I was inspired by his 1964 advertising campaign for Pirelli tyres to go for big bold typography, with a classically stylish 1960s feel.

He is the Creative Director of multi-disciplinary design office Dinnick & Howells, whose past clients include Levi Strauss, Glaxo Smith Kline and Lindt Chocolate.
