The easiest way to separate your multipage PDF into singular pages, is using Adobe Acrobat. Simply open the PDF, and follow these steps.
1. Click "Document>Split Document" from the top menu bar.
2. Select to split the document by number of pages, and enter the max number of pages as 1
3. Click OK
4. Now the single page PDFs should be saved in the same folder as the original on your PC.
If you do not have a copy of Adobe Acrobat, you may find some useful information in the Adobe Forums.
You can outline your text in Photoshop or Illustrator
The simplest way to embed your font is to open the original design file and preflight them using the preset PDF/x-1a.
Alternatively, you may choose to outline your text instead. This is best-achieved using Illustrator or Photoshop. Click here to find how.
You can preflight your PDF using most design software - at MOO, we normally use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. To preflight from these programs, you can follow these simple steps…
1. Open the file (preferably the .ai or .psd file) in the relevant program
2. Click "File>Save As"
3. Select "Adobe PDF" as the file format
4. The "Adobe PDF Preset" menu will then pop-up - select [PDF/X-1a:2001] from the dropdown
5. Click "Save PDF"
If you do not have a copy of Illustrator or Photoshop, you may find some useful information in the Adobe Forums.
You can embed bitmap elements in your PDF. If they are small images (less than 150dpi) then they could come out looking pixelated. To avoid this, you can simply remove these images from the source file (Illustrator or Photoshop) and then replace with a larger version.
For more information about removing/replacing low resolution images in your PDF, please see the B4Print.Com forums.
The most efficient way to remove a spot colour is to open the file in Illustrator and select the pantone/spot colour. Then simply convert the colour (by clicking the small symbol underneath the colour picker).
If you do not have access to the original file, you could try simply preflighting the file, using the preset PDF/x-1a. Click here to find how.
For more information about removing spot colours from your PDF, please see the Adobe Forums.
If your PDF is too big, then you'll need to reduce it's size, so that we can print your order without blowing up Big MOO, and nobody wants that. We recommend making your PDF no larger than A4/US Letter size, at 300dpi.
