Who are By Hand London?

Charlotte Hintzen and Elisalex De Castro Peake met at school. A decade later, By Hand London was born. Combining a love of fashion and textiles, a blossoming aptitude for needlework and a passion for vintage patterns, they created three gorgeous original patterns – a skirt, a blazer and a dress – to make up the base of a sewing kit for other women who love to customise, dress up and stand out.

The perfect package

A former marketing executive, Charlotte knows that online businesses can suffer if customers don’t feel engaged the way they would in a bricks and mortar shop. “With most of the community that we connect to on a daily basis being online, when we do reach out to people 'in real life' we want it to look like we made an extra special effort.” She explains. “So we concentrate on packaging so we can give our customers a personal touch.”

Charlotte made these beautiful Round Stickers with an abbreviated version of the By Hand London logo on, to seal the envelopes containing the patterns. They also created customised address labels in the same way. “We think it’s worth it. We spent so much time and effort making our packaging look exactly the way we want and just resented having to send them out in less-than-beautiful envelopes!”

Lovely letterheads and Luxe

The partners created a stack of letterheads from Postcards for general use – because who knows when you might want to send a personal message! “We keep the details side completely blank, so we can use it for whatever we want. Most of the time we use it to include in orders to our retailers just to say hi or in press packs.” They also opted for Luxe Business Cards, because the heavyweight paper stock is perfect for fashion illustrations.

“With Printifnity as an option, we use our Business Cards to show off the fashion illustrations, which are also on the front of our sewing patterns. The unlaminated, textured finish of the Mohawk paper makes looks like we’ve sketched straight onto the card.”
